Two Men Face Charges In Connection With Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident
Formal charges have been brought against two men in connection with a suitcase robbery where a believed to be irritant spray led to people being hurt at the UK's busiest airport.
Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, now face two counts of robbery and two counts of using a harmful chemical, as confirmed by court officials.
These accusations come after an probe of an attack at the parking structure at Heathrow's Terminal Three on the weekend. Earlier that day, two female travelers had their suitcases stolen after getting out of a parking garage elevator, authorities reported.
A young child was one of the people hurt during the incident. Several persons required hospital care and were subsequently released.
The incident – which authorities stated was a standalone event and not considered a terror-related act – caused disruptions to rail services and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a limited duration.
