An Patriotic Design and Historic Emblem

The new livery features a red, white and blue palette to represent the UK flag and will be used on GBR trains, at terminals, and across its online presence.

Notably, the logo is the well-known twin-arrow design historically used by the national rail network and originally introduced in the mid-20th century for the former state operator.

A Introduction Plan

The implementation of the branding, which was developed by the department, is expected to take place in phases.

Passengers are expected to begin spotting the newly-branded trains throughout the UK rail network from spring next year.

Throughout the month of December, the branding will be displayed at prominent railway stations, such as Leeds City.

A Path to Public Ownership

The proposed law, which will pave the way the creation of GBR, is currently moving through the legislative process.

The government has argued it is bringing back into public ownership the railways so the service is "owned by the public, delivering for the passengers, not for corporate interests."

The new body will unify the running of train services and tracks and signals under a unified structure.

The department has said it will merge seventeen various entities and "cut through the notorious administrative hurdles and poor accountability that continues to plague the railways."

Digital Services and Existing Ownership

The launch of Great British Railways will also involve a comprehensive mobile application, which will let users to see train times and book tickets free from booking fees.

Disabled travellers will also be have the option to use the app to arrange help.

A number of operators had earlier been taken into public control under the previous administration, including Southeastern.

There are currently seven train operators now in state ownership, representing about a one-third of rail travel.

In the last twelve months, South Western Railway have been brought into public ownership, with further franchises likely to be added in 2026.

Official and Industry Reaction

"The new design isn't just a new logo," stated the relevant minister. It represents "a transformed service, shedding the problems of the previous system and concentrated completely on delivering a genuine service for the public."

Industry figures have welcomed the government's commitment to improving services.

"The industry will continue to cooperate with all stakeholders to support a successful handover to GBR," a representative added.
