Jennifer Lawrence Says Mentioning Trump Would ‘Intensify Divisions’ Tearing the Country Apart
The star has revealed that she finds it inappropriate suitable to comment publicly against the Trump presidency, concerned it could intensify unhelpful debate and increase separation within the country.
‘I Question the Usefulness’, Notes Jennifer Lawrence
Speaking with media, the Oscar winner reflected, “During the first Trump administration, I felt like I was acting frantically like a chicken with my head cut off. But as we’ve learned, over multiple voting cycles, Hollywood stars do not make a difference at all on voter decisions.”
The actor went on, “So then what am I doing? I’m just voicing my thoughts on a matter that’s going to worsen tensions that’s ripping the country apart.”
Changing Allegiances
Jennifer Lawrence has previously been open about backing right and leftwing presidential nominees throughout her life. Brought up by a right-leaning family in her home state, she supported the Republican nominee in the 2008 election before joining the left-leaning politics and revealing she understood during President Obama’s term that backing conservatives was opposing her own rights as a female citizen.
Earlier Remarks
Several years ago, she remarked that a Trump victory might signal “the end of the world” and publicly supported the Democratic candidate in the 2020 presidential race. More recently, she gave her endorsement to the Democratic nominee, “because I think she’s a strong contender and I trust that she will do whatever she can to protect reproductive rights.”
Celebrity Views
The star was supported by most of Hollywood in her opposition to Trump as a presidential contender, but the minimal impact stars have over the public choices was underscored by Trump’s victory.
“The second term appears changed,” said Lawrence about his administration. “As he stated his intentions. We knew what he did for his first term. He was explicit. And voters made that decision.”

Jennifer Lawrence is discussing the drama, Lynne Ramsay’s drama in which she stars as a new mother who deals with her psychological well-being in a remote area. At a media event for the movie in Venice, she addressed Israel’s bombings in Gaza: “I feel fear. It’s horrifying. What’s occurring is nothing short of a humanitarian crisis and it’s horrible.”
Additional Thoughts
She continued by expressing that she was disheartened by “the disrespect in the conversations of American politics currently and how that is going to be normalised to the younger generation now. It’s going to be typical to them that politicians lie.”
The actor sought to redirect outrage about the conflict to decision-makers rather than celebrities. “Concentrate on who is responsible,” she advised, in what many took to be a allusion to the declaration supported by more than 4,000 entertainment industry figures to avoid specific industry bodies.
Individual Insights
The actor, who received an Academy Award at a young age for her role in Silver Linings Playbook, is receiving praise for her work in Die, My Love. Even though Lynne Ramsay has disputed the story being seen as one of maternal mental health issues and psychosis, the actress said that she identified with aspects of her character’s journey after the birth of her second son, soon after shooting ended.
“There was concern regarding my baby,” she said, “just picturing every negative outcome, and then questioning everything that I was trying. I was already in therapy, but I started taking a treatment called Zurzuvae and I took it for two weeks and it made a difference.”
Career Moments
Lawrence also mentioned regarding the freeing requirement of shooting revealing sequences in the project while she was in pregnancy and unable to exercise.
“It’s refreshing,” she commented, of being forced to abandon insecurities. “I mean, I occasionally wonder where I’m like, What separates me between my work and that profession? But it doesn’t trouble me deeply.”
